Le projet de cette exposition consiste à montrer le travail d'artistes qui, dans leurs différentes pratiques, utilisent des médiums variés, expriment l'essence de leurs émotions ou sentiments sui generis, leurs relations au monde contemporain et à l'histoire de l'art. Ce sont des artistes libres comme l'était un Asger Jorn quand il déclarait : "Style is not dead" ! Ils se distinguent par un imaginaire riche créateur d'œuvres qui sortent des sentiers battus et s'attachent à révéler les interstices étranges de la société contemporaine. Les images créées sont surprenantes, les objets-sculptures insolites.
Les artistes présentés ici donnent leurs points de vue sur les diverses problématiques liées au monde dans lequel ils vivent et qu'ils traversent selon leurs expériences : écosphère, mutations écologiques, technologies contemporaines, transformations du vivant.
Robert Devriendt, belge, réalise des séquences sous forme de petits tableaux où la narration diffractée, laisse l'insolite s'infiltrer dans ses images. Loris Cecchini, italien, exprime un fort sentiment poétique en utilisant le dessin à la mine de plomb et des objets fragiles qu'il protège dans par des structures en plexiglass. L'artiste cubain, Carlos Gariocoa, montre la déflagration de l'urbanisme, la désolation des villes, en utilisant des agencements de puzzles. Yoan Capote autre cubain quant à lui raconte sa "Havane pour une infante défunte", comme l'écrivait Guillermo Cabrera Infante dans son roman "La Havane pour un Infante défunt". Riccardo Gusmaroli invente constamment de nouveaux Uvomundo. Mihael Milunović, franco-croate, évoque par ses peintures réalistes l'envers des signes ancrés dans les situations géopolitiques, en exhibant de manière imperceptiblement surréaliste leurs symboles. L'Allemand Thomas Zipp peint des formes anthropomorphes lunaires et singulières qui présentent des visages inquiétants. Les photographies mouvantes du français François Delebecque nous troublent et éguisent notre perception érotique des corps. L'artiste franco-suédoise Cat Soubbotnik utilise des matériaux divers pour ses délicates compositions aériennes.
Les dessins de Barthélémy Toguo exhibent des corps noués et dénoués aux multiples entrées et sorties. La présence des œuvres du célèbre écrivain, peintre, dessinateur et réalisateur de films Hugo Claus (1929-2008), ponctue l'ensemble de l'exposition pour signifier que la temporalité en art n'a pas de date de péremption ! L'esthétique classique émerge inopinément là où on l'attend le moins, au travers d'œuvres d'une grande contemporanéité.
Ces Chemins de traverse veulent créer un lien entre la perception des artistes d'aujourd'hui et celle des artistes d'hier. Le spectateur est plongé dans un monde d'expressions esthétiques hybrides et curieuses.

The project of this exhibition consists in showing the work of artists who, in their different practices, use various mediums, express the essence of their emotions or feelings sui generis, their relations to the contemporary world and to the history of art. They are free artists like Asger Jorn when he declared: "Style is not dead" ! They are distinguished by a rich imagination that creates works that go off the beaten track and seek to reveal the strange interstices of contemporary society. The images created are surprising, the objects-sculptures unusual.
The artists presented here give their points of view on the various problems linked to the world in which they live and through which they pass according to their experiences: ecosphere, ecological mutations, contemporary technologies, transformations of the living.
Robert Devriendt, Belgian, creates sequences in the form of small paintings where the diffracted narration allows the unusual to infiltrate his images. Loris Cecchini, Italian, expresses a strong poetic feeling by using pencil drawings and fragile objects that he protects in plexiglass structures. Riccardo Gusmaroli is constantly inventing new Uvomundo. Mihael Milunović, a French-Croatian, evokes the reverse side of signs anchored in geopolitical situations with his realistic paintings, exhibiting their symbols in an imperceptibly surreal manner. The German Thomas Zipp paints singular, lunar anthropomorphic forms with disturbing faces. The moving photographs of French artist François Delebecque disturb us and challenge our erotic perception of bodies. The French-Swedish artist Cat Soubbotnik uses various materials for her delicate aerial compositions. Barthélémy Toguo's drawings show knotted and unknotted bodies with multiple entries and exits.
The presence of works by the famous writer, painter, draughtsman and film director Hugo Claus (1929-2008), punctuates the entire exhibition to show that temporality in art has no expiry date! The classical aesthetic emerges unexpectedly where it is least expected, through works of great contemporaneity.
The aim of Chemins de traverse is to create a link between the perception of today's artists and those of yesterday. The viewer is plunged into a world of hybrid and curious aesthetic expressions.
